The River of Life Early Works Package (EWP) is part of the first phase of the larger River of Life Master Plan that aims to regenerate 10.7 km of the Klang and Gombak rivers. It is a RM 15M project located within the historical geographical and social heart of downtown Kuala Lumpur.
As part of the Heritage Quarter, in the heart of old China Town along High Street (now know as HS Tun Lee), the 14,521 sq m project furthers conservation efforts while activating a previously underutilized area. Urban infill throughout the district activates the pockets of dead space around the highly attractive tourist areas, creating more contemporary nodes. Consisting of art installations, informative storytelling signage, and a renewed streetscape, the River of Life Phase 1 Early Works Package embodies the framework set out by the Master Plan.
Full of impressive civic and historical buildings, KL’s downtown is a place where local and international visitors come to shop, stay and enjoy their time. Iconic buildings and destinations include Merdeka Square, Masjid Jamek and Petaling Street.
Design objectives increase pedestrian movement through shaded streets that open up for pedestrian use during events and traffic congestion is eased through rationalized bus circulation.
